The May Trip, or What Comes After Day 125 in Doha

Ok, so in the spirit of keeping people abreast of what is going on... here is what is going on! (I'm going to do two blog posts today: one of what I did on my last day and then this one.)

In planning for this trip, it is one of the most open (with some exceptions being my weekend trips recently, but those are just for weekends). I feel lost without a travel guide (I think I'll end up buying one somewhere, or pick up a free map, because I hate not being oriented in a city).

Our itinerary ("our", you might ask? I have a wonderful friend coming along, Abdalla) starts early tomorrow morning (in about 8 hours) with a 0320 flight from Doha to Dubai, a 5-hour layover in Dubai (what students will do for cheap flights), then a flight that gets to Amman at noon. So:

08.05.2010 Amman
09.05.2010 Amman: day trip to Wadi Mujib, Dead Sea, possibly Madaba
10.05.2010 Amman: traveling to Petra, finishing anything we didn't do yesterday
11.05.2010 Petra
12.05.2010 Petra: traveling to Wadi Rum, spending the night in a Bedouin camp
13.05.2010 Wadi Rum to Aqaba by bus, Aqaba to Taba by ferry,
Taba to Cairo (insh'allah) by night bus
14.05.2010 Cairo (or still in transit from Taba)
15.05.2010 - 19.05.2010 Cairo and surrounding areas with Kelsey

20.05.2010 (Approx.) Flight to Istanbul, night bus to Gerome

21.05.2010 Gerome (Cappadocia)
22.05.2010 Cappadocia, bus to Ankara, night bus to Ephesus
23.05.2010 Ephesus
24.05.2010 Ephesus / Pamukkale
25.05.2010 Pamukkale / getting back to Istanbul
26.05.2010 Istanbul (Corinne's flight back to Seattle)
27.05.2010 Istanbul (Abdalla's flight back to Muscat)

So, the fun part is that the flight from Cairo to Istanbul (not booked yet), the hostels in Cairo (not booked yet), the hostels in Turkey (also not booked yet, though I think most nights will be on buses)... it might be a bit by the seat of the pants, but I'm very excited for everything planned thus far.

So... like I always warn, I'll try to blog and keep you all updated! Here again is the map:
